The FIPDes Day took place on 5th of September in Paris

FIPDes Day 2019: success story still on!

The FIPDes Day is an international seminar on the cutting-edge topics in the fields of Food Innovation and Product Design in the frame of the Erasmus Mundus Master FIPDes.
The programme includes lectures by renowned key speakers, flash presentations by MSc. students, Poster sessions and exhibitions of concepts by the students.

Barbara Rega, FIPDes coordinator, held a warm welcoming speech.

The first session “Food Design Engineering” was moderated by Marwen Moussa from AgroParisTech. Dr. Marco Ramaioli (INRA, France) had a presentation about "Food science and product engineering: from structure to function".
Paola Vitaglione from University of Naples was the chairman of the session “Healthy Food Design”, where a keynote speech by Prof. John Van Camp, from Ghent University, Belgium, was delivered on "Combined cell systems to study bioavailability of food-derived bioactives and their impact on human health".

During lunch time, the participants had the opportunity to attend the poster session and job dating with partners and engage into enriching discussions. Many thanks to LESAFFRE, DANONE, TETRA PAK, Hanyang University and FOOD INN LAB!

Dr. Marit Kvalvåg Pettersen, from Nofima (Norway) was the keynote speaker during the session "Food Packaging Design and Logistics" presented by Erik Andersson, from Lund University. She talked about "The challenge of protective food packaging: A balancing act of consumers’ perceptions and sustainable development".

The last presentation was given by Dr. Nikos Pagidas (Kerry Group Ireland) about "Understanding the consumer: Insight driven innovation", during the session “Culinary Innovation and New Product Development” moderated by Anna Cruickshank, TU Dublin.

We also had the great pleasure to have some FIPDA (FIPDes Alumni Association) representatives (special thanks to Santika Karunika CHENDERASA, Clémentine MULLER and Mustafa BOMBAYWALA). They shared their experience after FIPDes and had a panel discussion with the audience ; it was such an incredible moment showing the diversity and career possibilities beyond FIPDes!

We finally had a dynamic and motivating speech from FIPDes students: telling us the experience they had during the Food Hackathon and the Food development Showcase at TU Dublin. They also presented the awards they received during the year: the Leapfrogs scholarship, the IFTSA (Institute of Food Technologists Student Association) competition and the Food Factory 4 Us Competition

To end this amazing day, student awards were presented to Fernando Guardiola (best poster awarded by François Colomban from Danone), Inthuja Manickam (best flash presentation awarded by Rober Kemperman from Lesaffre), and Mahnoor Ayub (best picture awarded by FIPDes Consortium).
